Excellent zoo. Happy, well-cared for animals.
Northumberland Zoo的点评
点评：What a lovely, little hidden gem this place is! We arrived yesterday as a party of four adults and one disabled guest and we had a great time. We had only recently heard of the zoo’s existence and were very pleasantly surprised at how good it was. The zoo isn’t huge but there was plenty to do and see and we spent a good 4 hours wandering about the different enclosures and learning about the huge variety of animals. You can really tell the amount of effort and thought that has gone into the design and upkeep of the enclosures and public areas (shout out to Hog Springs). The animals seemed very happy and well cared for and it was lovely to see many animals that I’d never seen in other zoos before- the snow leopards and bats being the icing on the cake! We loved that the zoo is non-profit and that they make a huge effort towards conservation too.
We did encounter some very bumpy gravel paths which made pushing a wheelchair very difficult but we managed. This is pointed out on their website and they do intend to tarmac all paths eventually, which will be great for disabled guests. In terms of food and drink, we believed that whilst the cafe has been done out very nice and was immaculate, we didn’t get the best service as our order got mixed up twice. Some of the food was quite tasty but some we thought could have been better value for money but that is just our opinion. The cafe also had what looked like a fabulous play area for young children and plenty of picnic benches so you can bring your own food if you wish.
Overall, despite the very few niggles which the zoo are already working on to fix, we had a fantastic day and we will be returning very soon.
