点评:Over my 30+ years world travelling I've visited hundreds of museums of all kinds, however not such.
It's located north of Chiang Rai on a pretty big plot consisting of many houses, they say more than 30, which Mr. Duchanee built by himself over 50 years. The first one is the biggest and most impressive in a traditional Thai Lanna style made entirely of wood, while strolling the grounds you'll also find smaller brick, concrete and terracotta houses.
Baan (Home, House) Dam (Black) Museum displays, for an average visitor, a kind of quirky and unusual art. The prevailing color is as you might expect black.
Most eye catching displays are big buffalo horns huge tables and chairs, sofas and chandeliers, then crocodile, buffalo and snake skin over them as tablecloth or down on the floor as carpets. Apart from these unusual house items there're plenty of drawings, paintings, sculptures,...scattered around in those houses. Also, there're many objects he did not make himself, but collected and bought on auctions worldwide.
Mr. Thawan Duchanee is a recognized Thai and international artists.
Our one hour visit was a very unusual one, and let's say interesting - a break and something different from dozens of Thai Temples we've visited during our 2 weeks entire country tour. But, at the same time I must admit I wouldn't buy nor want to have any of his artwork in my house, nor to revisit this museum again.

Baan(家,房子)Dam(黑色)博物馆为普通游客展示了一种古怪而不寻常的艺术品。
Thawan Duchanee
