点评：First, I'm an advanced intermediate rider. I spend plenty of time on all kinds of horses in all kinds of conditions all over the world, using all kinds of tack that is unfamiliar. I learned a long time ago that some of the best operators of international riding outfits are ex-pats, most especially women. That's the case here.
Fellow Central Floridian native Kim Curls has scoped out gorgeous, interesting trails outside Cuenca for people who are rank rookies or, like me, prefer a horse that offers a bit more of an adventure. I already rode with her three times since arriving, one three hour and two full days. Each day I rode a different, more challenging horse, and each day was a joyful exploration of the magnificent scenery of the area.
Kim's got well-trained, competent and responsive horses. She knows the trails, so that when we had to pass around or over the occasional landslide she knew where to go. She's been here a decade and as a result she can give tourists a great understanding of what's here, what to experience and more.
She and I both hail from Tourist Central (Mid-Florida, Disney and beaches) so she understands that visitors like lots of heroic photos with stunning backdrops to send home. Out here you never know what's going to happen, as we fell in with a huge procession of horses during a celebration in nearby sleepy Giron. It's quite an experience to begin as a tourist and end up part of a parade!
Above all, come prepared for sometimes very high altitude, perhaps to 11k feet, which can be challenging. Even if you don't ride that high, do NOT underestimate the intense sun. Lots of SPF, cover your arms, and wear good boots, not sneakers.
If you need further proof of my enthusiasm, I just booked three more full days with Kim.
Take it from an experienced rider. You can ride nose-to-tail, or you can RIDE. If you want to really ride, book with Kim.
