点评:We used to come here on walks as kids back in the 1980s and picnic on the grass at the side of the river here. Not a lot has changed in 40 years apart from the over abundance of tourists. Even on a cold February day it was busy, I would hate to come here in the summer months.
A lovely little stop off though for a quick Instagram post or whatever your thing is.
What I do like is that the pens are still there on the outside of the village, where they would place the new lambs and then force the ewes to swim across from the village side to get them, all the while...a shepherd would walk across the bridge with a large crook and push the ewes under water to clean the fleece before they then sheered it on the bank by the pens. I remember seeing them do this in the late 70s - early 80s in the summer...and the sound of so much bleating still ringing in my ears haha! Then after that we would go to the mutton roast at Eyam.
