点评:One of the highlight attractions of the UNESCO World Heritage area in Bamberg is Altes Rathaus which is fitted onto the small island in the River Regnitz. It can be viewed very well from the Upper and Lower Bridges on both sides of this historic building, which these days houses the Ludwig Porcelain Collection.
The old Town Hall seems to have history that dates back to at least the late 14th-century. Rebuilds during the 1460s gave the building the Gothic and half-timbered structure taking up the entire small island and hanging over the eastern side. Altes Rathaus was later given a Baroque and Rococo makeover between 1744-56 by Johann Jakob Michael Kuchel. The delightful exterior frescos which adorn the building today were added by Johann Anwanderin (1755).
In addition to walking through a portal opening across the Altes Rathaus island, you can walk across both Upper and Lower Bridges on both sides for nice spots to take photographs of this remarkably attractive Town Hall building in Bamberg. Well worth spending some time here to enjoy this lovely World Heritage attraction.
