点评:Such a beautiful park. We started out at the Fall River Visitor Center, the Park Rangers always have suggestions on where to go, what to see and do. This was a great starting point. We picked up some maps, and identified some trails and drives we could accomplish based on weather, traffic and time. But before heading out, a must see is the gift shop. 2 floors of goodies and assorted items, probably the largest gift I've seen in a NP. The ranger did warn us that the park was quite busy, and a shuttle bus was a good way to travel. We opted for our car, but he proved to be right about the crowded parking lots.
Heading towards Bear Lake, a moose sighting, munching on leaves in the brush. Then on to Sprague Lake to do the trail around the lake, pretty and very easy, all flat, but its already at a higher elevation, over 8,000ft., so elevation sickness may impact the walk. While parked we had lunch under the trees.
On to Bear Lake, at over 9,000 ft., take your time to enjoy it. It was beautiful and picturesque, but still plenty of snow on the ground, even at the end of May, creating a melting muddy/icy trail. A good pair of hiking boots, with traction or spikes, would have been ideal. Not having this, our hike was short.
