Unsafe bicycles and bad attitude from the staff - give this one a swerve!

点评：I hired an eBike for my wife to ride from Ashbourne Bike Hire and Repair Centre. We should have been wary as we were given a bicycle which was filthy and as it turned out, unsafe to ride. The back brake lever came all the way back to the bars, the bell didn't work (very important as there were a lot of walkers and dogs on the Tissington Trail) and worst of all the handlebar stem bracket was loose. On stopping when we arrived back at the end of our ride the handlebars were by then so loose that as she braked they gave way and rolled forward suddenly, and she fell off into the brambles, hurting her knee and wrist. My wife reported the condition of the bike to the mechanic who was very rude and aggressive, and told her the handlebars were fine when we left and the bell didn't work because customers rang it too much! The manager did intervene at that point and we were given a refund. However, the bike was hired out in unsafe condition in the first place (contrary to Peak National Park Hire Contract T&C's). The boorish attitude of the mechanic towards my wife was totally unacceptable.
