Good golf course. Worth the visit.

点评：We played Palheiro golf course in March 2025. We played here twice. Our visit was set up by Carol at Golf Sun holidays.
When you’re driving up, it’s hard to believe there’s a golf course stuck on the top of this hill. Whilst there are some challenging holes, it’s quite playable and good fun. It starts with what looks like a short par four but it’s all the way up hill. Three is a tricky par three down the hill. Four is a shortish part four but basically there’s nowhere to miss it left. They seem to like downhill par 3s here as that applies to 3, 5, 7, 11.. There’s quite a long way to the 6th tee which is after a coffee stop. ( you come back to this after 9 & 12). 6,7,8,9 (and12) are in a slightly different area which is rather flatter. 10 is a short but demanding par five that’s narrow. 12 is a monster par five coming back up the hill. 13 is a short flick over the corner and then the course runs back down towards the edge of the cliffs. 16 again looks easy on the card but is severely uphill and 17 requires a tough drive with nowhere to miss it right or left before a long shot to the green. The 18th is a good par five running back down to the clubhouse. I have to say that everyone here was very friendly and was very relaxed about getting off the tee. . We hired a buggy. It would be quite a tough walk. We got a transfer to the golf course as part of our package. That works pretty well. E.g., we got picked up at 8:35 for a 930 teetime. The only problem is that they seem to then set up a transfer going home about six hours after the transfer in. That is, to be honest, too long. So we ended up getting an Uber back to the centre of Funchal which cost about €15 on each occasion. I would certainly recommend playing here. The course is in good condition. The greens are in very good condition and if you miss a putt it’s not the fault of the greens
