A good, free museum and a nice way to spend an hour or two
利物浦博物馆的点评
点评：This museum was a last-minute addition to our day trip to Liverpool schedule and, for a free attraction, it was very enjoyable.
We arrived about lunchtime and the cafe area was very full. It probably didn't help that it was raining outside too so a lot of people were trying to keep dry or get warm. I couldn't help but think they could make the cafe larger still to fit more people in as it was clearly very popular but it is already a good size and on a quieter day, you would have plenty of room to move about. My husband was the only one of us who stayed here to sample the food and was very impressed. He had lasagne and chips with a pot of tea but there was an array of hot and cold food and snacks to choose from at very reasonable prices. He said that the chips were 'some of the best he'd ever had' which was quite the thumbs up!
The nice thing about this museum is that it is very open-plan and does not feel claustrophobic at all. There is an option of stairs or an elevator to the upper floors and, having taken the stairs, I thoroughly recommend the latter! There is a fair bit of walking due to the openness of the space so you need to preserve what energy you can!
The exhibitions themselves were interesting but don't expect the world from this museum. It's main focus is Liverpool and it reflects that very well, taking great pride in it's footballing history and famous sons and daughters of the city amongst other exhibits showcasing the city's history.
All in all, a lovely couple of hours and a great way to get a feel for the history of the city, all in the shadow of the famous Liver Building just a short walk away. Absolutely worth the visit.
