Beautiful outdoor experience that you wouldn't believe was only 10-15 minutes from the busy city below!

点评：I lived in Los Angeles in the 90's and visit often because I have a daughter who lives in Hollywood, and I never knew this gem was here until I searched for running paths on my last visit! I was looking for a relatively flat trail since I'm from Houston, which is very flat. I drove up here, and the parking area is only about 12 minutes from Hollywood Blvd. and La Brea, where I was coming from. It feels a world away from the city below! The reservoir is a beautiful blue lake with wildlife you will easily see, including donkey deer, rabbits, and water birds. The Hollywood sign is just above the park and loop, and you will see it easily and unobstructed from parts of the path.
The loop around the reservoir is 3.3 miles, so the whole thing should be doable for those looking to run a 5k or continuing training for one, as I was. It's also a walking trail that probably takes an hour to an hour and a half to complete, depending upon your walking pace. Of course, you can also visit and only walk as far as you like, turning around to retrace your steps when you want to be halfway done.
Using GPS, put in Lake Hollywood Reservoir to get to the parking area for the trail. I used the 6381 Weidlake Dr address to a free parking area and trail entrance, although I saw there are supposed to be other entrances on Lake Hollywood Drive and Wonder View Drive.
The experience is really wonderful with incredible views of the city below, the water and wildlife, and the Hollywood sign, not to mention the pretty drive up through the Hollywood Hills to get there. I highly recommend it if you're looking for that sort of thing to change up your trip to Los Angeles and the Hollywood area, especially.
