Worth a visit and try and do the castle tour

点评：This was the 3rd castle that we visited on our Scotland visit.
Once you have paid and parked head over to the welcome centre where you pay for entry and can arrange for a tour of the castle. I think the maximum size for the group is 20 and they are every 30 minutes. You will be given a map of the grounds from where you can plan to go.
This castle hosts the national Daffodils collection so by going in April we did see everything out rather than stretches of blank ground.
There is also a playful garden for the younger kids.
We had an hour and a half before our tour time so walked around some of the large grounds, spotting daffodils everywhere, and included the lake walk. the lake was so quiet and peaceful meaning you could really hear the birdsong which was great.
We popped in for a coffee and a cake (coffee was better than Balmoral) and sat in the old kitchens.
The tour around castle (takes about an hour) started at the front entrance once everyone had arrived and tickets had been checked. The tour was excellent, full of information about the building, rooms and former occupants. If you can do it!
