点评：This was a great day regardless of the forecast. My friends from Fairbanks booked this trip for my visit to Alaska from Maine. The weather the night before was not good.. sideways wind and rain and we were not at all sure we’d be able to go out.. but, Captain Ben said he was going to go.. and that it would probably be a short day as the wind would pick up when the tide turned. We sped out, on increasingly large waves, about 24 miles. We were rocking and rolling but no rain..
Ben gave us a demo of letting the weight drop to the bottom and hooked a fish immediately. And that’s how it went. All 5 of us Limited in less than two hours. It was a BLAST! I got the biggest fish.. I think. 32” .. and my forearms are hurting two days later.
Ben is great.. friendly, attentive, kind… his mate was struck with Covid that morning so he was doing it all. He’s very experienced.. lots of fun and full of interesting stories and history of the area.
Because it was a short fishing day he took us to Seldovnia .. an island community that has some cool history to it.. for a little visit while he cleaned our catch.
It was a great day. I’d do it again if I ever got the chance
