点评:This was my first visit to Glastonbury Abbey, I had been to Glastonbury before but didn't get to visit the abbey, so I took the chance this time.
What can I say? It's a huge site and the remains are quite impressive. Yes, it's a ruin thanks to King Eddy 8! However, there are still a couple of buildings that are relatively complete and there is a pretty interesting museum at the far end of the site. Only one slight gripe was the site is now being used as a venue for musical shows which unfortunately means that there was a huge stage and portaloos around the site which distracted from the general ambiance. That said, I guess these places need to generate revenue by alternate means.
Tours are available on occasions, (but not all of the time - you have to be lucky), and we joined one of these. Our costumed guide, (sorry I didn't get her name), was superb! I highly recommend doing the tour as there is so much that you could miss otherwise, not to mention all the interesting facts about the abbey.
refreshments are also available from a small kiosk at pretty decent prices considering.
I can highly recommend a visit here and to Glastonbury in general.
