H.L. Hunley Submarine的点评
点评：We have to express gratitude to our friends; who brought this amazing historical gem to our attention, and met us here for a tour/visit.
First: the story of the actual historical event is fascinating; with almost mytic human subplots, and a historic naval impact of major significance.
Second: the discovery, resurrection and ongoing restoration of the Hunley itself; adds an additional level of immersion into the story.
The museum has obviously been developed by those who hold the whole project in high esteem. Exhibits/films/videos are well-conceived, informative and engaging. The staff/volunteers are friendly, welcoming, informative and accommodating.
Of special interest, to us, were the ongoing lecture/presentations by the volunteer/docents. These are people who are truly knowledgeable of/dedicated to this endeavor.
Of course, this is all accentuated by seeing the Hunley itself; submerged in a chemical solution reclaiming/maintaining its ongoing conservation.
We originally thought we would only be there an hour or two; but after 4+ hours, we wished we could have stayed for one more lecture/presentation.
If one is in the area (or capable of traveling to it); this impressive enterprise is well worth a visit.
