点评:This is our trip back to the Shangri-La Rasa Ria Hotel in Sabah, Malaysia, a few years later, but this time we are thoroughly disappointed! The overall setting of the hotel is elegant, but the maintenance of the facilities and the attitude of the staff have significantly declined.
When we checked in, the front desk staff was expressionless and showed no smile! They didn’t introduce the hotel facilities or provide any relevant information; it was simply a question-and-answer session. When we inquired about room beds arrangements, we found out that since our child is only one year older than the requirement , we would need to pay an extra charge without any room for discussion. I understand the hotel’s policies, but couldn’t the staff present this in a more relaxed manner, giving us a bit of leeway? the room is supposed to be a family room for four, what is the difference if my son is 9,10,11, etc if we are able to fit in the room woth no complaints? It felt like everything coming at a cost!
I mentioned that staying on the ground floor might be noisy, and they said we would have to pay extra for a room on the upper floors. I pointed out that my child is only 12 years old, and they replied that breakfast would incur an extra charge! Staying in a four-person room would also cost more! However, none of this was mentioned when we booked the hotel! Their responses seemed like there was only black and white, showing no consideration for the guests’ perspective.
We checked in around six and hoped to book the teppanyaki for 7:00 PM, and they said they could help us with that. However, when we arrived at the teppanyaki area, we found out that the service starts at 6:30 PM for one section, and the other section at 8:30 PM. If we didn’t adhere to this timing, we would have to settle for à la carte instead of dining at the teppanyaki table! why didnt you tell me when u did the booking about the srving session if thats a rigid rule behind?!
I have been a Jade member of Shangri-La and have always appreciated the design, service, and standards of Shangri-La hotels. Over the past ten years, we have visited this hotel four times, and each time we dined at the same teppanyaki restaurant. However, today was extremely disappointing!
Moreover, the room facilities are outdated: there are no USB ports by the bedside or the workspace! The TV lacks screen mirroring capabilities, the terrace facilities are old and worn out, and the handrail of the outdoor bathtub is not securely installed (which is quite dangerous). The garden's ground lights have their covers detached from the lights (I genuinely believe that if it rains heavily, there could be an electric shock hazard!).
Many of the socket covers are loose, and some don’t even have wires connected! The lights on the balcony are similarly unreliable; you just can’t trust the electrical installations—they are either broken or falling apart! One of the bedside lamps is missing its switch (one has it, while the other doesn’t).
The entire hotel’s electronic equipment feels like it’s from dinasaur years ago! Everything is worn out!
I remember coming here for vacations when our child was very young, and it’s unfortunate that over the past ten years, each visit has been more disappointing than the last. This time has proven that I no longer need to consider this hotel in the future!
