We visited Manor Farm in April 2025. I have reviewed below various aspects of our visit and I have provided tips which I hope will help you should you decide to visit.
Personally, I would not recommend this farm, particularly if you are disabled or have children with additional needs. Both my children (who have additional needs) found our visit stressful and wanted to leave very early on in our visit.
Disabled parking
Upon arrival we found that there were no disabled spaces available and we had to park really far away from the entrance at the end of the overflow car park - this made it very difficult for us to access the farm and we started off our visit stressed and frustrated.
There are only 3 disabled spaces for the farm despite them welcoming hundreds of people on a busy day. This is a significant oversight in accessibility. We raised this directly with manor farm but had no response.
TIP: arrive early if you want to get a space, particularly if you require accessible parking. Don’t forget to put your reg in the computer screen too so you don’t get a parking fine as it all camera operated capturing your reg when you go in and out.
Food and drink
There are two cafes on the farm. One at the entrance and one at the far end near the animals.
The former is difficult to access once you have entered and walked to the far end of the farm where most of the animals are - there is no buggy service and it’s a considerable walking distance if you are disabled or have small children.
The latter is accessible but it is over priced and poor quality and does not cater for any dietary restrictions. The only options for food were sausages rolls, a few cakes and ice creams. My daughter was not able to have any lunch there due to her dietary requirements. I was really shocked that there were no alternative food choices. On another note, the tables were all really high (think breakfast bar) and so once again not disabled or small child friendly.
TIP: If you are planning to eat here I would advise eating at the front cafe before you enter the farm or take a packed lunch as there are lots of picnic benches.
Activities and events
There are sadly very few activities happening each day, even at a busy time like Easter holidays, and the activities that are available are poorly organised and cost extra.
There is furthermore no information provided upon arrival in terms of what activities are on and where. They do not offer a paper leaflet / map of its farm information. There are no staff around once you enter the farm so there is no one to ask.
We had no clue what events / activities were scheduled and so we missed the few that were on. It was very frustrating and disappointing.
There was only one animal talk all day - about the lambs (although the same talk was available AM and PM), and the only one opportunity to watch the animals being fed was the pigs (again available AM and PM). There were no other talks about any of the other animals on the farm and no other opportunities to watch any of the other animals being fed. This was really disappointing.
Pony rides and an Easter egg trail were available but at an extra cost. Pony rides were £5 per child - it was a short ride and a very long queue. The Easter trail at £2.50 per child was overly complex and impossible to complete. It was not fun.
TIP: in order to establish what is going on each day, you need to find one of the farm tv screens (we eventually found one in the soft play / cafe area) and if you look at the scrolling text across the bottom of the screen then you can see the activities/ events). Also, budget to spend more than just the entry fee, or you will find you have done everything there is to do in under an hour.
Animals
There were hardly any animals. The animals we saw in our visit were: 2 cows, 4 alpaca, 4 goats, and 2 sheep with lambs.
It was not possible to see the pigs, rabbits or guinea pigs as they were all in their houses and viewing of these was not accessible.
There were furthermore zero opportunities to interact with the animals. There were no opportunities to hold, stroke or feed the animals.
TIP: make sure that the children understand in advance that they will not be able to interact with the animals in order to manage their expectations
Tractors and farmyard equipment
There are various farm equipment around the farm that you can ‘look but not touch’ - for example tractors. There are no tractor rides and you are not allowed to climb or sit on the three tractors displayed near the entrance. This farm is the opposite of interactive - you will find yourself constantly having to tell the children that they are not allowed to touch, climb on or interact in any way with the farm environment. The experience is somewhat more akin to being in a museum.
Soft play and park
The only positive to the whole visit was the soft play and the park which were actually lovely. However you really don’t need to go to a farm to go to soft play or the park. For that we could have gone to a regular soft play for half the cost or to the park for free.
