点评:A brilliant museum. Something for everyone! If you only have one family day out in the Southampton area this year, this is the one. A fantastic, well displayed and informative collection of all things brick. From chimney pots to roof tiles, and all things clay in between, you'll see how these items were manufactured and appreciate the sheer manual labour involved back in the day. Check the website for Steam Up days, and you'll see the only steam operated brick press operating in the world today, along with steam traction engines and other exhibition items operating in the yard. But that's not all - there are domestic room layouts with artefacts from the period - the 1970s teen-agers bedroom was spot on! There's Lego galore and a safe outdoor playground for small children, not to mention a miniature railway giving rides through the day. A super craft fair on steam days as well as a secondhand bookshop and small souvenir shops complete the retail therapy. Don't forget to buy some old pennies to try the authentic arcade machines. The cafe coffee service was a little slow due to numbers of customers on busy days but otherwise a nice selection of snacks and drink, with picnic areas to enjoy your own tuck. Thanks to all the friendly, knowledgeable volunteers for making it a memorable day.
