点评:I travelled from Oxford to visit Wales with my daughter and our cockapoo.
While driving around the beautiful Gower peninsula, we bumped into the sign to Weobley Castle and decided to pay it a visit. We noticed a no dogs sign (except guide dogs) but it was unclear if the sign referred to the castle entrance or to the full area. We decided to proceed a bit further and ask. We heard dogs barking in the house adjacent to the site, and before we could even understand what was happening, two dogs went out from the house gate (which had been left open) and attacked our dog, who was on the leash and standing peacefully next to us. The dogs were black and white, mid-sized and very angry. After a horrible fight scene and our dog screaming in pain, the owner came to retrieve his dogs. No apologies or inquiries on how our dog was doing, just reference to the sign and blaming it on us. We were in shock and could not even argue back. Luckily, a gentleman visiting the site understood the situation and went to speak to the man in our defence. In that very moment, I noticed two other well behaved dogs on a leash coming back from the castle with their owners. Luckily, they were unharmed.
Well, after returning home, visiting the vet and providing our dog with painkillers and antibiotics, I would like to tell the dogs owner - who I assume is also responsible for the site - that putting up a sign does not exempt him from his responsibilities and duty of care over his dogs. It could have well happened to a guide dog, or to a child.
I hope they will be more careful in the future and ensure the house gate is locked during opening hours to prevent new and more serious accidents.
Horrible experience and only bad one on our first visit to Wales, a beautiful and welcoming place where we only met lovely and friendly people. I guess exception proves the rule!
A big shout out and thanks to the gentleman who stood for us, in case he reads this.
