PERFECTION at the Guildhall for our dream holiday wedding!

点评：Perfection! That is the only word to describe my experience at the Guildhall 2024 December 07. My husband Jean-Robert Lafont and I first visited the Guildhall three times during the Halloween Festival in 2023 and all three occasions spoke with a lovely woman by the name of Siobhan, one of the tour guides. The third time we visited she took us on an impromptu tour of the Guildhall to show us the different wedding facilities and a month later we made the decision as two United States citizens to be wed in Derry.
Amanda, the Team Lead of Visitor Services and Booking Office was wonderful, so easy to work with. Keep in mind we are doing all this via email and the occasional phone call with one visit back to Derry for Jean-Robert and me May 2024 so the fact the planning was so easy is a massive credit to her and her team.
Each time I had to call the Guildhall the second half of the year I was greeted warmly by whomever answered and the fact they started knowing who I was, this random person from the U.S. anytime I called was such a great feeling, made me realize how much they all cared about our wedding and making us feel welcome!
We arrived in Derry 2024 December 4 and had a meeting at the Guildhall the morning of December 5. Amanda was so detailed with her outline of the ceremony but more important, made us feel so relaxed about the process and urged us to just enjoy and allow our wedding planner to handle the grunt work. Thank you to the Guildhall for the tea and Siobhan for the scones while we talked about the wedding!
Saturday, 2024 December 07 was the wedding and the entire staff could not have been any more excellent in terms of preparing the Whitaker Suite and making Jean-Robert, both of our Best Men and me feel 100% at ease. Chris was our representative in the room during the ceremony AND recorded a video of the ceremony which we posted for our family and friends who could not travel from the U.S. (it turned out just perfect Chris!), Brian gave me last minute Irish lessons since I did the last verse of my vows in Irish and let's just say my translation was a bit off in some parts but he fixed that (thank you Brian!) and Lee was our personal bartender after the ceremony as we did a toast with all our guests. I found out later he even made mimosas, had no idea about that, thank you Lee and thank you for teaching me the proper way to pour a Guinness 0.0!
I could go on forever about the Guildhall and the wonderful staff there. We will visit this amazing historical place every time we go to Derry, it will always be one of the most special places I have ever visited. Thank you to the Guildhall for delivering PERFECTION!
