Buying Last-Minute Tickets
皇家莎士比亚剧院的点评
点评：We arrived in Stratford-on-Avon in the late afternoon and went straight down to the Royal Shakespeare Theatre to see if we could get some last minute tickets for The Merry Wives of Windsor.
I wouldn’t recommend leaving it this late and, not surprisingly, there was not much left - just very expensive seats or cheap ones described as ‘restricted view’.
However the staff were very helpful and showed us a seating map so that we could see where columns were located and helped us pick seats that were still in a reasonable position.
In the end, the ‘restricted view’ was absolutely fine. Once inside the theatre, I could see some seats which would definitely have had limited views but in our case, there was only a column on our right. It didn’t obscure the main view at all and blocked only a fraction of the very far right side of the stage.
The play was brilliant - lots of fun and colour. We loved the convoluted plot, the slapstick, the changes of set, and the fast-moving comic pace. John Hodgkinson as Falstaff was a stand out.
I’d recommend arriving a little earlier and having a drink at the rooftop bar. We sat outside, looking down over Bancroft Gardens and the River Avon.
