点评：This was a specific visit to enjoy the Don Valley Engine experience. This one-to-one experience (details on their website) was conducted, on the day I went at least, by the head engineer Eddy.
I won't go into the detail of the engine, because if you're considering this experience you'll have done your homework already. Suffice to say the engine, which is of course the centrepiece of the whole museum, is awesome and no industrial history/ archaeology enthusiast could fail to be impressed by Eddy's knowledge and experience, and by the pleasure of having a chance to operate the engine in full steam. There is also the possibility of a behind-the-scenes look at parts of the museum you'd be otherwise unlikely to see.
Not cheap, but it's money helping to support the museum, and is great value.
