Small shopping mall in a historical building
Copper Queen Plaza的点评
点评："Copper Queen Plaza" is the name of the small indoor shopping mall across the street from the Bisbee Mining Museum. The building is historical, as it was, originally, Mary Crossey's General Store, and then, after being purchased in 1886, it became the Copper Queen Store. Later, in 1939, the Phelps Dodge Mining Company, rebuilt it as a Mercantile Store for the town. The building’s Streamline Moderne style was decidedly fashionable in 1939, and was designed by the Phoenix-based architectural firm Lescher and Mahoney.
The area has been subdivided into shops and restaurants, and is fun to browse through. The Restrooms are upstairs, (there is an elevator), and from the upstairs mezzanine, one can really appreciate this building. We, always, spend at least five minutes, leaning on the railing, and looking at those lovely copper lamps, hanging from the ceiling. The coffee roasters are upstairs, so, there is always that lovely smell of freshly roasting coffee.
Downstairs, there is a lovely bookshop, with many local features. There is, also, a very nice Gift Shop. At one end is the Bisbee Table (our favorite restaurant in Bisbee), and at the other, is the Bisbee Coffee Company, which not only sells their coffee, but has a cafe (with outdoor seating) attached.
When we were there on Tuesday May 3, it was not a very hot day, and they had the air conditioning on, so, it was a bit chilly inside. This is a really nice place to visit, when in Bisbee.
