Lovely gardens and buildings - great that you can actually touch items too unlike any National Trust site I've been too!

点评：I would have given 5 out of 5 but for waiting on line for so long in the cafe. After an excellent visit walking around the gardens and the house on a very hot day, we were very much in need of lunch and drinks before heading home.
The cafe wasn't overly busy (it was a midweek day and only one group was there) but the slow service in the cafe let it down. This could be fixed with just a few tweaks and the use of trays by the customers rather than everything being brought out to the table
- cakes etc could be put on the trays, drinks added and paid for and carried out by customer
- quiche could have been sliced ready and plated with the salads and put on the tray too
That would reduce the need for the counter staff having to keep leaving the service area to go hunting for people to give them their cake/drinks etc at their table. Plus, asking at the till if the customer was going to sit inside or out and marking their order with a symbol to show this, would save the poor staff time finding their table
My family have worked in the hospitality industry for many years so for us these seemed simple changes that could make a big difference, and the use of some runners in high season, going out with trays, collecting and clearing tables etc is going to be essential if they are to cope with the crowds that you could expect in the high season. I know the cafe was only reopened recently,
so maybe these are just teething problems and I do wish them all the best
