Beautiful views but the strong winds and powerful surf make it very unfriendly.

点评：We took a day trip to Molokai primarily to go to this beach. I read all the reviews and kinda knew what to expect. Even though the surf didn't look that big, I was not prepared for how powerful each wave was and it really didn't look that dangerous. I can see how things can go real bad real fast. The beach drops off quickly so you lose the bottom and now you're floating/swimming subject to the current and waves. I went in once then stayed out the rest of the time. I'll repeat what other reviewers have said -- unless it is flat calm, use caution. Or go to the ends where the beach is protected by the cliffs.
The winds were blowing pretty hard through out the day. Forget about an umbrella or a sun shade when the sand blasting starts. We took shelter in the trees and as other reviewers have stated - are full of nasty thorns.
We stayed for several hours and only saw one other person there. It's a beautiful scenic expansive beach that is somewhat isolated and nearly deserted. I don't think I'd make a special day trip just to go here but if you're staying on the island it's definitely a must see. The Mokulele airlines island hopper 9 seat Cessna was a fun ride over. Try to sit on the right side of the plane as you're leaving Molokai. You'll be treated to a great view of the sea cliffs which are the tallest in the world.
