Without doubt the worst course we've ever played!

点评：Today we played the Henry Thomas Cotton Championship Course. We're currently on a 7 day trip golfing in Portugal and this was the 3rd of the 4 courses that we are playing. We were all looking forward to it but realised very quickly that it was going to be a struggle.
The course is in horrendous condition. No grass on the fairways, hardly any sand in the bunkers, literally like playing on pavements. The greens are in abysmal condition with no putts getting a true run. You'd try to play off the fairway and your club would be sliding at address due to the lack of grass. A complete and utter slog to play and no enjoyment whatsoever. I heard alot about it being the Henry Thomas Cotton Championship Course but was gobsmacked with how bad it was, blatantly no upkeep on the condition of the course.
When we were coming off there was another group apologising to their friends with how bad the condition of the course had been.
We tried speaking to the course manager and he was both defensive and dismissive. Tried telling us the condition of the fairways was due to a lack of rain recently. No idea how this effects the other abysmal aspects of the course, lack of sand in the bunkers etc. Before we went there we warned by someone at our hotel that it was in horrendous condition 12 months ago but maybe it would be ok now. Yet the course manager seems to think it's only a recent thing.
How they charge what they do I'll never know. Not even close to the condition of the other courses we have played. We won't be visiting ever again. Save your money and go elsewhere!
