Very poor communication.
New Horizons & Breakaway Charters的点评
点评：Our captain and crew were great! BUT...............
On Thursday, March 6th, we chartered the New Horizons II for a private excursion from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Our group consisted of eleven couples staying at the Sand Dollar Estate in St. Thomas. When booking, I clearly communicated that we were not interested in snorkeling; our intent was to beach-hop and visit a couple of bars on St. John.
Unfortunately, when the boat arrived, we were unaware that it lacked a dinghy and was unable to pick us up from the beach. As a result, our group--many of whom were dressed for the day and carrying bags--was forced to use kayaks to board the boat two at a time, a process that took over 30 minutes. It was either that or swim 30 -40 yards with bags.
Once onboard, we were informed that we could not visit any beaches without swimming ashore due to the lack of a dinghy. This was not disclosed beforehand and completely altered our plans. The only viable destination was the town in St. John, as it was the only location with a pier.
At the end of the trip, we encountered the same logistical issue when returning to our house, again requiring some of our group members to kayak everyone and their belongings ashore. Given the circumstances, it would have been far easier to take a ferry to St. John, saving us both time and frustration.
We paid a total of $5,787:
* $4,650 for the charter (30 x $144)
* $837 for an 18% gratuity
* An additional $300 for a beach pick-up that was ultimately not provided
This experience was far from what was promised, and we feel misled about what the charter could actually accommodate.
