点评:When visiting Arles I got the combined monument ticket that included four monuments and one museum. I hadn’t intended to use the museum part but I was near this museum and had the time so popped in - and I’m so glad I did. The building itself is impressive with Roman ruins in the courtyard, and the museum is beautifully laid out, with interactive information screens in several languages. I also loved the commentary on how museums have changed over time from stuffy cases of exhibits to interactive experiences - it was like a museum about museums.
It also appeared to be a very accessible museum, with ‘leaning stools’ available to borrow at the entrance, automatic doors, level access and lifts and braille explanations and tactile displays of key exhibits. I was impressed.
Would I recommend going out of your way to see the museum? Probably not if you’re not into ethnography, but if you’re in Arles and have the time, it’s a lovely place to pop into for an hour or so.
