点评：The tickets for the Staatsoper events are usually sold out very quickly so we had to buy them online well in advance.
The Staatsoper's entrance, central hall, and staircase are all designed to be impressive. We were simply left speechless! After entering the auditorium and finding our seats, we were surprised by a nice innovation. Each of us had a personal screen attached to the back of the seat in front of us, with lyrics translated into a chosen language.
Die Entführung aus dem Serail is certainly the most popular of Mozart's early operas - he was only 26 when it premiered in 1782 in the Burgtheater. It is a Singspiel, with a lot of spoken texts! Interestingly, in this production, each of the five roles (except the Pasha) is performed by two people - one singer for the musical part and one actor who interprets the text. They wear identical costumes!
The plot is utopistic and naive, everyone knows too well that the Ottoman Turks of the XVIII. century would not behave like that, especially in male-female relations. Yes, it was written during the Enlightenment era...
But what actually matters, the music is fantastic!
