点评:Wine tasting with James today was simply amazing. Hubby and I had over 1.5 hours enjoying his generosity, not only with the wines but the sharing of information. It was a truly engaging tasting session where we compared notes on aromas and palate with him, discussed trends in winemaking and heard all the details us wine geeks love to know about regarding the wines we tried.
Speaking of which, he was very flexible, allowing us to try varietals and vintages side by side, often we had 4 glasses in front of us so we could fully appreciate the nuances of each wine vis a vis the other.
He poured us a few wines that were not on the list and we truly appreciated that for our wine education. I mean, a sparkling on the lees for 10 years??? Marvellous! And the 777 Pinot Noir is truly Burgundy-inspired and the nicest Pinot I've had here in Adelaide Hills so far.
Too bad we have busted our limit on how many wines we can bring back home (we're travelling from overseas), otherwise I would have loved to get a bottle of the 2022 Owen's Chardonnay, only the 5th vintage made so far, that really says something. The toasted brioche on the palate kept giving and giving!
Oh well, next time we're in SA, we will make sure we have allocation in our suitcase for Sidewood! And hope that James will be there!
