点评:Went on the ferry from Mull on a wet drizzly day. The abbey cost £8 for a senior although to be fair that includes lots of boards with information on plus an audio tape to tell you about it. We chose the boards as previous experience shows that audio tapes give more information than we want it need.
The abbey itself is very peaceful and generally plain inside with minimal stained glass windows. From the abbey we walked round the cloisters which were interesting as there were a number of doors marked private, for the use of Iona community/ guests. It would have been peaceful apart from the person having a loud phone conversation on her mobile phone.
Outside were various chapels and stone structures to visit plus the museum which had reconstructed stone artifacts and went through the history of the abbey. There was one piece about the most famous nun which was notable for its difference.
At a leisurely pace with lots of reading we spent an hour /1.5 hours visiting a nd this was without rushing.
An interesting piece of history which was well explained.
