From Bananas to Bath Time - A Magical Elephant Experience

点评：We did the half-day tour to the Elephant Village and chose this particular experience because it involves no riding and all the elephants are rescues that are clearly well loved.
Our guide, Lei (? Spelling), picked us up from our hotel in a minivan and took us to the village, where tea and coffee were waiting on arrival. We had some free time to explore and take photos of the elephants before Lei gave us a brief but informative talk about the elephants, the village, and the mahouts who care for them. We even learned a few basic elephant commands!
Next, we got to feed the elephants, visit the elephant hospital, and learn about how dung paper is made. There was a short stop at the souvenir shop—no pressure to buy anything—and then we fed two cheeky calves who absolutely loved the bananas. They were very playful and so adorable.
We chose to add the elephant bathing experience (an extra cost, but well worth it). Being in the river with one of these gentle giants—our girl was 45 years old—was an absolute highlight.
The tour wrapped up with a long boat ride up the river. Unfortunately, there were no waterfalls due to the dry season, but the ride was still very pleasant. We finished the day with a delicious buffet lunch before being dropped off back at our hotel.
We had a fantastic day and highly recommend this tour!
