More Than Just A Butterfly House... It's Magical
Coffs Harbour Butterfly House的点评
点评：We had our day planned, first stop was The Big Banana Fun Park, followed by the Butterfly House and then check-in at our accommodation in Coffs Harbour. We love butterflies but the Butterfly House caters more than just butterflies, it’s like a mini amusement park with Alice in Wonderland theme and a Dinosaur Park. We were greeted by a cheerful, lovely gentleman and purchased our tickets. He told us where the Butterfly Glass House is… not far, it’s literally a few steps away. He also told us that the butterfly species change during the day, so it’s advisable to check in the glass house every now and then – we were given a brochure ‘Passport to Magic’ with images of butterflies that you may see. He also told us when the next Dinosaur Show Arena will be on, as we arrived in the afternoon, only one show left for the day. That was very kind of him to share that information with us and if you have forgotten what he told you, there’s a QR code at the back of the brochure with that same man sharing with you what you can do at the Butterfly House, the times of the dinosaur shows and where – pretty clever, eh? Our first stop was of course Butterfly Glass House. What a wonderful, charming lay out it is. A lot of thought was put into it, to make it a magical experience with a fairies’ theme and fairies flying amongst trees (CGI of course) with plenty of butterflies fluttering around as well. We saw Orange Lacewing butterflies both male and female and a plethora of them. There is a section once you exit the glass house, where you scan another QR code (on the tele screen), stand in front of green background (green screen), and take a selfie with a butterfly border – another fun activity and memory to keep (see photo of myself). We then ventured into the Alice in Wonderland themed park. Take a walk ‘Through the Looking Glass’, a mirror maze, which we failed miserably. We ended up exiting the entry door but it was fun to do and killed time. Then we walked through the maze, a bit of a challenge but easy to do and plenty of photo opportunities with Alice in Wonderland characters once you have reached the centre and a bubble machine automatically blowing bubbles… that’s rewarding – seriously, the children would absolutely love this. By then, it was time for the 1pm Dinosaur Show. A fun and interactive show for the children. While waiting for the show to start, staff will bring around fossilised butterflies for us to see and touch and then the show starts, where children can get up close to a friendly, moving dinosaur during the show – not mechanical, a human inside. If the weather is dry, you can visit the dinosaur forest, where there are mechanical dinosaurs to see and again, photo opportunities – cute ones, where you can place your children inside a dinosaur egg(s). Just before we left, we walked back to the gift shop (located where you purchase your tickets) and bought a few gifts – they cater for both adults and children. We were surprised to see a friendly family of peacocks walking past us and an albino one as well. There is a Wonderland themed café there as well, if you want to have something to eat or drink or both? Or bring along a packed lunch. We saw some people who brought with them picnic blanket / chairs, having their lunch, during the dinosaur show. Well worth a visit, especially if you have young children, enjoyable activities to see and do, that keeps you entertained for a couple of hours at least, especially if you repeat the activities over and over again. Highly recommend.
