Chitradurga Fort的点评
点评：Visited Chitradurga Fort in March in the midst of a blazing summer. The altitude, however, ensures a cool breeze and the fort itself has plenty of places offering shade.
After an initial hiccup because the app for admission into the fort did not load on my phone, we met a guide who offered us two options - a full length tour lasting 2.5 hrs or a shorter one. Since it was my first time there, we took the full tour. Based on our experience, I would recommend Channabasappa to all seeking a good Kannada speaking guide.
The fort itself covers a huge area. Even taking into account that only 5 of the 7 gates are considered Fort area and the other two gates are now part of the city, there are many sections to be covered. The guide delighted in showing us how the rocks themselves could be visualised as different animals, connecting it to the story of how Chitra-Kal-Durga became Chitradurga. The many temples within the fort have interesting architecture and photo spots abound. The view of the town from the top of the fort is amazing. There are signboards everywhere which make it easy for the non-guided tourist to find their way around, but the stories the guide tells make it worth hiring one. The most famous spot in the fort - Obavvana Kindi, is deep inside the fort near the back walls.
Anyone visiting Chitradurge's 7 gated Fort should also visit the Chandravalli caves behind the fort. The exploration of the underground cave with its many chambers is an adventure.
