点评:Taking a cooking class was high on our priority list when visiting Hoi An, and after seeing several recommendations online, we decided on Vinh Vo. From start to finish, the experience was fantastic.
We were collected directly from our hotel, along with others joining the tour, and met in the main town. Our guide, Lyly, was incredibly welcoming from the outset, making everyone feel comfortable. The tour began with a visit to the local market, where we picked up fresh produce while Lyly taught us about the ingredients we would be using.
After gathering everything we needed, we were transported to the cooking location - a picturesque outdoor kitchen, reached via a lovely walk through a wooded jungle area. The setup was excellent, with all the ingredients and raw meats set up for us on arrival. Affordable refreshments, from beer to soft drinks, were available to keep us going. We were also provided with chef hats and aprons, giving us the perfect opportunity for some fun photos!
We learned to cook four traditional Vietnamese dishes, with Lyly guiding us through each step at a perfect pace. Her energy and humour kept the class engaging and entertaining. One of the highlights was flambéing bánh xèo - such a fun experience! The food tasted incredible, even after cooking it ourselves, and you could truly appreciate the freshness of the ingredients.
A fantastic surprise was the included trip on the iconic coconut boats, which we hadn't realised was part of the tour. Despite the less-than-perfect weather, it was a brilliant experience and an excellent addition to an already well-organised class.
At just 1.3 million VND for two people (around £20 each), the tour was incredibly good value. We highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting Hoi An!
