点评：Just returned from a great Cat-skiing trip out to the Shar mountains with Shar outdoors (SO). We had never cat-skied before and wanted to check out what this would be like. Everything was arranged by email and Whatsapp with Mihail from SO who was super friendly, knowledgable and an all round good guy. He even arranged a taxi transfer from Sofia for us. We stayed in the Hotel Scardus ( in a new annex next to the hotel), the rooms were clean and comfortable and a 20 yard walk to the hotel. The hotel had great food and wine - all Macedonian and of a very good standard. The hotel is modern but has a local feel to it ( one thing to note for those of us from the EU/Uk is that smoking is allowed indoors - remember that from times gone by??!!) and acted as a very good base - the catskiing is from right outside the hotel. The hotel staff were very friendly and could not do enough for us.
The Shar outdoors team were great - we hired skis - Elan Ripsticks which were spot on - the tech guy was brilliant, guides all knowledgable about there area. The area is big and beautiful. They did a great job in trying to find the best snow - there had been no fresh for 2 weeks so variable (freeze/thaw/spring-like) conditions but they really did get the best out of the mountain ( the trip is best viewed as a free-ride experience rather than purely powder) but then it snowed last 2 days and the experience got even better - never skied the same line twice, new runs each time with pick up /drop off in the Cat. We skied with many nationalities and groups got on really well.
very good overall experience and would recommend to anyone thinking about trying Cat-served freeride.
