An Unfortunate Disappointment
乔治城的点评
点评：Currently we are on a tour of SE Asia. Having read and seen so much about the "food capital of Asia" and the wonderful historic side of the city, we booked a few days in Penang / George Town.
Overall, it's all just a disappointment. Dirty streets, chaotic and dangerous drivers, constant bad smells due to open drainage and overflowing bins on streets.
We managed to squeeze in a few food markets, and all were severely overrated. Having come from Singapore to this, the gulf in quality was clear. Other than a small list of sites, not much to do, we found a lot of locals to be quite abrupt.
Pinang Peranakan; nice, but not worth it.
Food markets; all below the expected quality.
Clan Jetties; smell awful and untidy
Armenia Street; OK but very run down and overly touristic.
The only things worth visiting in my opinion are Penang Hill, Kek Lok Si and a couple of other temples.
