点评：We are just returning from a magical gray whale watching tour with Kuyima. From start to finish, this was an incredible, seamless experience. Communications via email with Maria were spot on. She was so patient with my many questions and always answered immediately! The morning of our 3 day experience we were picked up at our San Ignacio and driven the hour long drive to the San Ignacio lagoon. The camp was spotless and very ecologically aware. Our accommodation was an adorable little cabin on the beach equipped with the most comfy twin beds. We slept soundly with the sound of the ocean lulling us to sleep.
Our guides, Alejandro and Alicia, for our four 2 hour excursions to view the whales were wonderful and very well versed in the habits of the whales, and Federico, our captain, was extremely skilled in getting us in the vicinity of the whales, but always allowed them lots of space and the choice of whether to come visit the panga. Though only one mother and baby chose to do so, we saw many adults at fairly close distance enjoying the protection of the lagoon. I believe Kuyima is the oldest of the camps for gray whale observation, and I would highly recommend choosing them. Truly everything was perfect. So so clean and efficient.
I would be remiss not to mention the food which was delicious, fresh, and very healthy. Lots of fresh fish caught by the local fisherman in the lagoon. No one in the group of 9 who were staying at the camp with had a twinge of stomach discomfort so clearly all food was cleaned and prepared beautifully.
Day trips included a visit the nearby salt flats, and a birding trip. The tour often includes a visit to an oyster farm, but it was closed when we visited. However, on our last night, we were treated to the most delicious fresh oysters.
A long review, but this was definitely a five star experience which our party of four sixty-something’s won’t forget any time soon.
