点评:This is not your usual review. Labuan is an Island in the Bay of Brunei in the South China Sea. My one and only visit was in 1965, having been flown in on board a Blackburn Beverley aircraft from Singapore courtesy of the R.A.F. . A fantastic island to visit. I was there for 6 months as a military posting in the Royal Signals. The only problem we had was getting used to the humidity, no air con in those days! We were billeted in a half open sided tin hut. Mo doors or windows, just open to the elements. Monsoon season saw copious amounts of rain, the benefit was it was warm.
Although then things seemed and were a little on the primitive side everybody soon got used to it and a more enjoyable time, I have yet to have.
The only town was Victoria and the only way of the Island was boat , or for service personnel, R.A.F. Labuan, now the civilian Airport.
If you are contemplating a trip to Labuan, my advice would be to grasp it with both hands.
It was brilliant in 1965. With all the unrest of the area settled long ago and with all the investment and growth of the Island it will mow be absolutely FANTASTIC. If I had the funding available I would go back in an instant
