Deceiving name and more just a gallery
Museo Textil de Oaxaca的点评
点评：There was very little available to see at this little museum (2 exhibits and the rest was blocked off) with a museum named as it is...
and sadly, when we went to another community and saw their humble little Teotitlan museum--that museum was far better, informative, interesting. This doesn't seem like a museum at all--merely a gallery with a few works.
With a name like it has, this museum SHOULD represent and teach the public about what the whole of textiles is in the Oaxaca region...how it started, bringing us through the history and stories about the people in all the surrounding indigenous communities and then showing examples of all the diversity and types of textiles. Then the public would be educated and eventually they would probably want to buy, with more knowledge, more what they learned about.
The best part of this museum was a map of what textiles come from where and yet when we were there, a couple was seated on the large bench stuck in front of it and we could barely get close to the map...
also it would be helpful to have English translations of everything because there were a lot of English speakers going through the museum also. I would guess people spent maybe 15 minutes in the museum at most.
