Great for children (and adults)
温哥华水族馆的点评
点评：I had seen some excellent online reviews for this aquarium which is apparently the largest one in Canada so made the trip on a rainy Monday to see it for myself. It is in the middle of Stanley Park which was quite easy to get to by bus (the number 19 from memory). There were warning signs up in Stanley Park about what to do if you see a coyote so I was a bit hesitant about exploring the park any further than the walk from the bus stop to the aquarium which is about 300 metres.
The place opens at 10 and I was there on time having pre booked a ticket, although you can pay for tickets when you get there despite what the website says. I think it was about $24. The first exhibit is a tropical area with lots of very colourful fish, and also an Amazon forest walk-through with some cute monkeys, turtles, a pair of orange ibis and apparently a sloth although if he was there he was invisible.
The main attraction for me was the sea otters who were in a large enclosure outside next to some seal and sea-lion enclosures. They were very playful. They were all in one tank and it appeared a bit busy however the tank next door was empty and being thoroughly cleaned so I guess they are usually split across two tanks. I spent about two hours looking around. I was impressed they also had a room where children (and adults) could explore some of the tanks with their hands, and handle some of the smaller starfish and anemones. I think this place is mainly aimed at children and young people and there is a good educational component to the aquarium, so I enjoyed my visit.
