Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 21的点评
点评：We visited on a Saturday afternoon out of tourist season. Totally underwhelmed by the experience. The staff member at reception looked totally bored and was rude, there was another member of staff stationed at a podium at the top of the stairs whose job appeared to be to said hello and asked how we were - that was it. No information or guidance. Apparently there was a tour but no one mentioned it to us.
There was no guidance about how to navigate the galleries, I suspect we actually followed the story the wrong way around because it made no sense and there was no real flow to what was going on.
This was probably the least interactive places I have been to for a long time. It as like an old fashioned museum where you walk around various exhibits randomly situated in various rooms, and read from a small card explaining what something was.
There was a green box in one corner that was supposed to look like a train. It didn't. I had no idea what the train was for.
At the back of the room was a theatre, we would have to wait half an hour until the next showing of a 25 minute film. Apparently, at one time the entrance to the theatre was painted to look like a ship. it just looks like a gray box. Not enticing at all.
Looking at the reviews, it would seem that there was another gallery to go look around, but there was no staff upstairs to explain anything to us.
Overall, the exhibition looked as though things had been removed, it all felt rather empty with lots of empty floor space and areas with just random chairs in it.
It's possible that during the winter months, visitor numbers are low so there is limited staff to really show you around the exhibit. If that is the case, I don't think the full $16.50 admission fee should be charged.
I was really disappointed with the quality of the exhibition and didn't learn anything about the process at all.
