点评：Located next to three museums stands the gigantic Arcades du Cinquantenaire. The grounds around the arch are very well kept. There is a fountain on one side and lawn with flowers on another. It is one of the biggest arches I ever have seen. This arch has great history. The original arch was to be built for the National Exhibition 0f 1880 commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Belgium Revolution. Only the Pillars were completed in time. There were wooden panels placed on top during the Exhibition. That arch was a single arch design by Geodeon Bordiau. After his death, his design was revised by Charles Girault and the triple arch was completed in 1905 in time for the 75th Anniversary of the Belgian Independence. The arch stands 148 feet high and 98 feet wide. Inscription under the Bronze Statue reads, "The monument was erected in 1905 for the Glorification of the Independence of Belgium." The Statue above is ia a Brabant raising the National flag.
The three buildings adjacent to the arch are the Royal Military Museum, the Art and History Museum and the Autoworld vintage car museum. It is easy to get here. It is located next to the 1 and 5 lines of trhe Belgium Metro.
