点评：The Old Town of Bamberg is a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site (1993) and a charming representation of Central European medieval town that is found in the Franconian region of Germany. Altstadt can be covered fairly well as a day trip from places like Wurzburg or Nuremburg but there is enough of interest to justify an overnight stay or even longer visit for those who prefer a more leisurely pace.
Highlights include the picturesque Altes Rathaus, the charming row of old fisherman houses making up what is referred to as Little Venice as well as Neue Residenz, Bamberg Cathedral, Alte Hofhaltung at Domplatz. There are interesting monuments as well as pedestrian bridges spanning the arms of the River Regnitz worth experiencing. A few smaller historic churches, market halls, beer houses, speciality museums and souvenir shops fill in the gaps, making it easy to spend a day or more sightseeing around the historic old town of Bamberg.
