One of the closest swimmable beaches to San Jose del Cabo

点评：San Jose Del Cabo has a beautiful beach out in front of the Hotel Zone, but unfortunately, it is known for being dangerous to swim in, with a rapid drop-off, and strong rip currents. If you wanted to try snorkeling or swimming, the nearest swimmable beach is Playa Palmilla, which is 5.7 km west of the center of the hotel zone (11 minutes, ~$11USD Uber ride with tip). Our son snorkeled, but we’re scuba divers, so he wasn’t that impressed with what he saw, and didn’t recommend that we go in. The water was cold in December (low 70’s), and required a wetsuit (or someone who’s used to cold water). We wanted to rent kayak or stand-up paddle boards. We talked to guys at one booth that had them, but they were exclusively for hotel guests, and not available for rent. He referred us to a palapa further north that might sometimes rent them, but they were closed (permenantly?), and there didn’t appear any other places that rented them. The parking lot is super-rough, so to save the driver’s car on the way back, we walked across the unpaved parking lot before paging for the return ride. It has a swimming beach to the east, and some snorkeling available as well. We had an enjoyable afternoon lounging on the beach.
