San Agustin Beach, Huatulco – A Beautiful Beach, But Not As Accessible As You’d Think

点评：San Agustin Beach in Huatulco is a beautiful spot, no doubt about it. The water is a stunning turquoise color, and the beach is teeming with corals, making it a great place to explore marine life if you're into snorkeling. However, as much as the beach itself is beautiful, the experience of getting there and enjoying it is a different story.
First off, this beach is no longer truly "public" in the traditional sense. There's absolutely no public parking available. You have no choice but to park in one of the parking lots for the restaurants that have essentially taken over the entire beach. In fact, you can’t even see the beach from the road due to all the restaurants blocking the view. There’s not a single little path or opening to access the beach without walking through a restaurant, which is really frustrating. They'll tell you parking is free if you consume at one of the restaurants, but be prepared – you'll likely end up paying a lot more than you anticipated for food and drinks, as it’s the only option available.
The road to get there is also a big issue. The route is rough, unpaved, and poorly marked. There are no signs, and you’ll be driving for about 30 minutes from the main highway to get to the beach, with no gas stations or stores along the way. So, you’ll want to make sure your tank is full before setting off.
We went when the sea was very rough, with waves that made it difficult (and unsafe) to swim. There weren’t many people in the water, and it felt like the conditions were too dangerous for a relaxing swim. That said, we did see some boats pull up to the shore, and the people on those boats went snorkeling, so if you’re thinking about visiting, maybe that’s a better option for accessing the water safely.
In conclusion, beautiful beach, everything else not.
