点评:My intentions of writing this review is NOT to necessarily share with you the beauties of this amazing masterwork, nor its history. This you can read in a good guide book. But instead to inform you on a little "viewing tip" which perhaps you are unaware of. In order to be astounded by this work, you are obliged to purchase a viewing ticket which is co-ordinated with attendance spots starting with the earliest 10:00 and concluding at 5:15. Whether you sign up for a tour, or simply self-guide, the trick is to get the earliest viewing spot: 10:00. Why? Once and only once a day can you view the Altarpiece perform its ritual "opening," panel by panel, in what I thought was one of THE most magical ceremonies surrounding any work of art I've ever seen. You enter a darkened room with a flood light on the masterwork and take a seat feet away from it and wait. What you are now looking at are the complete BACK PANELS before they are opened. Just experiencing the work in a quiet, darkened room would be enough but at 10:15 the side panels slowly open to reveal, piece by piece, the entire work. Within minutes all panels have been slowly opened, top to bottom, to reveal the entire Ghent Altarpiece. You are allowed sufficient time to sit, relax, and soak in all of the work's amazing glory. No need to rush this one. But remember: the trick is TO GET TICKETS FOR THE 10:00 VIEWING!
