点评:The Mikvé Israel-Emanuel synagogue in Curaçao was consecrated in 1732. It is the oldest synagogue in continuous use in the Americas. Its descendents date back to 1651 when the first Jewish families came from Amsterdam in the Netherlands & settled in Curaçao. Several generations before, they had left Spain and Portugal to escape the Inquisition and settled in the Dutch republic. FYI, per their website, "The floor is covered with sand, imported in the past from Israel, which harkens back to Dutch 18th century custom." Their current Rabbi is from Chile. Note visitors need to show a legal valid ID for entry. There also is a Jewish Cultural Historical Museum located across the courtyard from the synagogue, which requires an entrance fee of $10. Note when we visited, they accepted a CREDIT CARD (i.e., but not cash)!
