Nice spring gardens, very poor cafe.

点评：Gardens are great, like most Cornish gardens at their best in spring.
But the National Trust run cafe is awful. we've been Trust members for many years and visited very many place but this is the worst cafe by a long way.
During our visit over 50% of the outdoor tables were empty but uncleared from previous visitors, the side table that visitors are requested to place trays after eating was piled high with trays containing dirty crockery and part eaten food.
Although we only had coffee and cake the next table complained about the wait for food, after a few minutes part of the food arrived with an apology that the remainder would be just a few minutes, shortly after another part of the order appeared but with the third apology that one item had in fact been sold to another customer, an alternative item was offered and some free drinks as a consolation.
During the entire period of our visit waiting on staff delivered food to visiting customers but went back inside empty handed.
It has to be said that most of the staff were very young but clearly badly trained, eventually a mature member of staff appeared and started to clear tables.
Within the National Trust this cafe is linked to that at Godolphin which in our opinion is much better run.
Come on National Trust get a grip when this cafe was run as a franchise it was run well, regretfully not now.
