Jamaica National Gallery的点评
点评：Situated within walking distance of the Jamaican convention centre in Kingston, exists a wonderfully surprising oasis of culture and tranquility. The National Gallery is situated in the art district near the waterfront.
For a very modest fee you can spend at least an hour or two viewing the delights of Jamaica art. There is a vast spectrum of paintings and objects to see, both old and new, colonial and indigenous. There is also currently a ‘Celebrating Reggae’ exhibition till July 2025.
When you arrive, you are invited to sign the visitors book, before being pointed towards the gift shop where you pay your entrance fee. The gallery is on two floors and nicely air conditioned. There is a small gift shop and cafe to complete the experience.
Strangely I visited here only a few days after I visited its name sake in London and enjoyed it just as much. The gallery is closed on a Monday. It’s well worth a visit, historical and culturally.
