Salar d'Uyuni with Voy Tours

点评：We stayed at Butch Cassidy Hostel & arranged the 4 day tour starting in Tupiza & ending in D'Uyuni with them. We organised to return with the driver to Tupiza. There was just the 2 of us (oldies) & we were very lucky to have Christobal Ribera, as our driver & tour leader. Even though he spoke Spanish & we are English speakers (from NZ), we managed to follow along. Christobal has been with the company for 18 years. He is very knowledgeable & an excellent driver who takes great care of his vehicle in very demanding conditions. He was endlessly cheerful & caring, to the point he organised a hot water bottle for me on a cold night (yes, that's a 1.5 litre drink bottle filled with hot water!). His vehicle, a Toyota Lexus was luxuriously comfortable with great suspension.
The itinerary was very busy each day, early rises & mostly late finishes. Good (basic) accomodation & great food. I was very impressed by the food organisation in such isolated places. It seems all the drivers follow the same routine. We saw so much & got such wonderful photos. The highlight for me would have to be the lakes & the 1000s & 1000s of flamingos. I just loved that you could actually get close enough to take good photos. The last day on the Salar was very special, too, including the cactus island. I will forever reflect on using salt as a building material!
I was also very impressed with the amount of fauna we saw - desert fox, partridge family, ducks, Viscachas, mobs of vicuna & llama, flamingos.
A little FYI - Christobal had an Entel SIM card that worked everywhere. My TIGO card was useless, no reception for 4 days.
I can totally recommend this tour with Voy Tours & the Butch Cassidy Hostel.
